As of June 1, 2021 all WIL Digital employers registered and operating in BC may be eligible to receive an additional 25% wage subsidy, up to a maximum of $2,500 through the Innovator Skills Initiative top-up for each student hired. Employers will not need to submit a separate application for the additional top up.
Through this partnership, the combined wage subsidies offered to approved WIL Digital employers registered and operating in BC will be equal to the WIL wage subsidy + the Innovator Skills Initiative top-up. For example:
WIL Digital wage subsidy (@75%) up to a maximum of $7,500+ Innovator Skills Initiative top-up (@25%) up to a maximum of $2,500 = 100% wage subsidy to a maximum of $10,000.
MUST meet all WIL Digital eligibility requirements in addition to the qualifications below:
- Applications must be from a registered business or not-for-profit organization on British Columbia that provides a student with a meaningful work placement which includes a Digital or Technology component and uses technology in some capacity.
- The student is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or is registered as having refugee status in Canada and is enrolled in a program at a accredited post-secondary institution in British Columbia, during the work placement period. Please refer to our Student Program Guide for more details.
NOTE: As in accordance with the WIL Digital COVID-19 flexibility measures, post-secondary institutions are also eligible to apply as employers through this WIL Digital + Innovator Skills Initiative program, but at limited capacity. Connect with the team for more information.
WIL Digital is funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP).
